Why Am I Here?
Admittedly, I'd love for my first blog entry to answer this very basic yet deeply philosophical question... why are we here? But let's face it, I'm not God, Allah, Jesus, John Smith, or that alien scientologists believe in and I don't pretend to be. So if you were looking for validation of your existence, you're barking up the wrong bible. No, I'm setting out to answer this very basic question, why am I here on blogger? Or blogspot? What the hell is the name of this place anyway? I'm basically still moving in, finding my comfort zone. I have half my boxes unpacked and the walls are bare. I'm not SETTLED yet. But I'll find my way. I'm here because, let's face it, I'm starting to outgrow my old outlet, which of course was MySpace. Not by choice, mind you. My more sophisticated peers have decided to conspire against me and escape to Facebook, leaving me to my own devices in MySpaceland. Of course, I joined Facebook a few years ago but I always treated it as the step sibling to MySpace. You know, like a step sibling, you embrace it, but never really feel it's a part of you. I don't feel that way anymore of course. Considering MySpace has quickly become a barren wasteland, I spend 80% of my internet time now on Facebook. And with that, my readership for my blogs on MySpace has decreased, as has my desire to post them there. And posting "notes" on Facebook seems so... lame. Blogs are way better. At least MySpace didn't try to mask the fact it had a blog feature. Those Stanford kids think they're so smart, calling a blog on their social networking site a"note". I'm not falling for it bub. So I decided to come here. To get my thoughts out in the open for all to see. So my MySpace mob and my Facebook followers could have a sanctuary to read what's going on in the life of Macster without having to sign on to the Social Networking site they feel has lost its luster. I'll be sad the day I shutter my MySpace account for good. But that day will come. Much like it did for Friendster. And AIM. And all the other cool online trends that have come and gone. But for now, Blogger or Blogspot or whatever it's feeling like being called today is my new outlet. Most of my entries will be random. They will be observations of general life. They'll be opinions on whatever the F I feel like opinionating on at that particular moment. There will be stories. And of course, there'll be the occasional rant. I mean, did I really mean for my first entry to focus on MySpace and Facebook? No, not really. Not really how I envisioned my entry into the blogger/blogspot world. But it is what it is. I'm geared up and ready to fire. So, kick your shoes off and get comfortable. These walls won't be barren long and soon it'll start to feel like home. And you're all invited to come in and stay awhile.
